How do you prefer making a grilled cheese sandwich?

I would love to hear from my readers on how they make a grilled cheese sandwich.

The grilled cheese sandwich is a delicious comfort food. There are many ways to prepare a grilled cheese sandwich. The website http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Grilled-Cheese-Sandwich shows two ways of making a grilled cheese sandwich. There is the frying pan method and the toaster oven method. I would like to share my way of making a grilled cheese sandwich that uses a toaster and a microwave.

Linda’s fast and easy grilled cheese sandwich:

2 slices of bread
2 slices of cheddar cheese or your favorite cheese

Put toast in the toaster to brown. When the bread is toasted, put one slice of bread on a microwave safe plate. Put two slices of cheese on top of the bread; put the other slice of bread on top. Place in microwave to melt cheese. It usually takes about a minute depending on your microwave.

  1. Or you can skip the second slice of bread and just consider it an open-face sandwich. Less carb guilt with half the bread. :-)

  2. That is a good idea because the cheese is the best part of the sandwich for me.

  3. I have always been a bit of a carnivore so I try to sneak meet into things when I get the chance. The way that I make grilled cheese( not sure if it stays grilled cheese or if it should be called something else) is to put ham in with the cheese. I then continue to cook the sandwich to a golden brown using a pan.

  4. That sounds like a better sandwich than the grilled cheese.

  5. I have found that tomatoes inside grilled cheese are also very good. I like to cut the tomato on the thin side and let it cook in the pan for a minute beside my sandwich. Then I through it onto the open face sandwich, add the other piece of bread and flip the sandwich. It also goes great with the ham and cheese mentioned above. Best when grilled til it is a golden brown on the outside.

  6. I like your idea about cooking a thin sliced tomato in a pan. I will have to try that myself.
